Troy- Doris Brown Dewing, of Troy, died Saturday, June 24, 2006 at Eddy Memorial Center in Troy after a long illness.
Born in Lynn, MA, she was the daughter of the late John Stevens and Delia (Cressey) Stevens. and wife of the late Edwin Dewing and the late Roland Brown.
She had resided in Brunswick since 1947, many years at Diana Place in Eagle Mills, and was a graduate of Simmons College in Boston.
Mrs. Dewing(Brown) was a social worker for Rensselaer County, and later for the Rensselaer County Board of Cooperative Educational Services in the Hoosic Valley and Schodack systems.
She was a member of Memorial Methodist Church in Troy, now Hope United Methodist, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute Women's Club, Troy Garden Club, PEO, Wolferts Roost Country Club and a member of the Forest Lake Park Association for over 40 years.
She is survived by a daughter, Constance Steckel of New York City; a son, Robert Brown of Chelsea, VT and three grandchildren, Shanti Steckel of Cambridge, MA, Travis Brown of Washington, DC, and Tyler Brown of Chelsea, VT.
A memorial service will be held July 27th at 6:30pm at the Eddy Memorial- Simmons Chapel 2256 Burdett Avenue Troy..
Interment at Pine Grove Cemetery in Lynn, MA.
