Donald Roberts, 73

Eagle Mills - Donald Roberts, 73,of Roberts Drive died peacefully Thursday, November 15, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital in Troy after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late William Roberts and May (Mulloy) Roberts and husband for 48 years of Louise M. Ostermann Roberts.

He was raised in Troy and attended Troy Schools, and resided in Eagle Mills for the past 38 years.

Mr. Roberts was an Army veteran of the Korean War having served in Mannheim, Germany. He was employed as a senior machine operator at John A. Manning Paper Company in Green Island for 40 years, retiring 10 years ago.

He was an active, longtime member of Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills and a member of the United Methodist Men's Club, the board of the Eagle Mills Cemetery and the Papermakers Union. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed traveling.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Laurie L. (Shawn) Roberts Duffey of Eagle Mills and Wendy M. (Michael Todd) Roberts Hipp of Winston Salem, NC; a sister, Joyce Roberts Gordon of Troy; four grandchildren, Evan James and Andrew Charles Duffey and Michael Bryce and Kirsten Mae Hipp; his special friends, Tom and Patricia Danaher and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his twin brother, Ronald and twin brothers, David and William Roberts

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at the Hope United Methodist Church 566 Brunswick Road Eagle Mills with Rev. David Martin, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 3-5pm and 7-9pm.

Interment Eagle Mills Cemetery.

The family would like to thank his doctors, the staff at St. Mary's and Hospice at St. Mary's for their loving care and support.
