Dear Liz, Lisa, Sam, and family,
I am sorry I am not able to attend the service for Dean, as I am out of town. I wanted you to know I am thinking of you all, and have many fond thoughts of Dean.
I guess we have always been neighbors.....since Pennyroyal Lane, where I loved walking past all the daffodils and vegetable gardens in awe...to Lokrow Road, where he would leave me veggies and lots of garlic on my doorstep with a note saying "here's to really good bad breathe". He was always so jovial and funny, gentle and kind. He always had good advice for me, whenever we ran into each other walking on the road....Dean was a very extraordinary man, and I feel honored to have known him
Peace and love to you all, Kim

My condolence to the Leith family. I considered it a great privilege to meet Dean in 2007 on a research trip. From seeing his smiling face on Garden Way ads for years he was the man I envisioned him to be, friendly, kind hearted, and out going. He will be greatly missed and long remembered for his accomplishments

Dean was “Mr. Gardenway.” His was the name and the face everyone thought of when they thought of buying a Roto-Tiller. I can still picture Dean walking along next to an operating “Horse” model operating it with one hand. I have a red and white Troy-Bilt baseball cap autographed by Dean and a couple of Troy-Bilt belt buckles Dean gave me here in my office. I remember him being surprised when asked to autograph it; I don’t think he ever realized his importance to the early success of that company.

Dear Leith Family, Dean was a tremendous mentor and outstanding example of excellent leadership style at Troy-Bilt where I worked for 17 years. Low key, warm and personable, strong in his beliefs, he was a pleasure to work with. I worked a bit with Dean on some of his non-Troy-Bilt projects, too. I sought his advice on how to fund raise for an org. at one point. He started by calling it "fun raising" and gave me great pointers I put into practice. The first time I met him was at a marketing seminar just after I'd started working at T-B. He was a speaker who was introduced as, "apple-faced Dean Leith." His first words were, "What's for lunch?" and the crowd roared. That was just his way. He understood T-B customers and taught me to think from the customers' point of view -- his lessons have served me very well. In all the contact I had with him, and there were plenty, I always thought of him as a personal friend. I believe he felt the same toward me. In loving memory of Dean, Steve
