Dean H. Leith, Jr.

Troy - Dean H. Leith, Jr., 84, of Beechwood Apartments died Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.

Born in Detroit, MI, he was son of the late Dean H. Leith, Sr and Kathryn Carfrae Leith. He was husband of 61 years to Elizabeth 'Liz' Elliott Leith. Dean graduated from University High School in Ann Arbor MI.  He earned his bachelor's degree in history from the University of Michigan. 

Leith was an army medic, serving stateside during the Korean War.

Dean was a founder, and served as president of the former Garden Way Manufacturing Company in Lansingburgh, Troy, NY starting as sales manager in 1966, and as Chairman before his retirement in 1988. His passions were gardening and local history, he dedicated most of his spare time working on behalf of Capital District community organizations. Leith served on the Dormitory Advisory Board at Albany and was employed by the New York State Office of Labor Relations.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three children, Lisa (Sam) Hazen, New York, NY, Andrew (Marjorie) Leith, Burlington, VT and David (Veronique) Leith, Yarmouth, ME and five grandchildren, Jake Hazen, Sachi, Lucy, Francis and Violet Leith and many dear relatives and friends.   He was predeceased by twin brothers, Tom and Jerry.
