Welcome to the memorial page for

David M. Patrick

January 6, 1954 ~ April 21, 2016 (age 62) 62 Years Old

Delmar – David Michael Patrick, 62, passed away on Thursday, April 21, 2016, at St. Peter’s Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Albany after a long illness.

David was born in Troy, New York, on January 6, 1954, and lived there for most of his life. He is predeceased by his parents, the late Elizabeth B. Patrick and James K. Patrick, Jr., as well as by his brother, Thomas. He will be greatly missed by his brothers James K. Patrick, III (Nancy) of Loudonville, William B. Patrick (Carmel) of Schenectady and Steven J. Patrick of Wynantskill. He will also be missed by his nieces and nephews, James (Stephanie), Lori Cabrera (Will), Courtney, Tarin, and Caleb, as well as by his great-nieces and nephew,  Elizabeth, Margaret, Lilly, and Kyle.

David was diagnosed with cerebral palsy as a baby and, as a result, his parents helped raise funds to start the Cerebral Palsy Center in Albany (now the Center for Disability Services). For many years, David enjoyed appearing on the CP Telethon, started by his parents and supported by their many friends. Thousands of disabled children and adults throughout the Capital Region have been helped through the efforts of David’s family.

David enjoyed his employment as a mail clerk for Sheltered Employment at the Center for Disability Services, Inc., in Albany, and he never tired of showing you how much money he had earned and kept securely in his wallet.

David’s pleasures included a passion for telling riddles, watching his favorite shows like the Three Stooges and Looney Tunes cartoons, and playing a fierce game of Trouble. But most of all, David enjoyed showing off his new watch, again and again and again. He especially loved his brothers, whose affectionate teasing was guaranteed to make David shout or smile and say, “Hey, cut that out,” every time.

David’s family would like to thank the staff members and residents of Rielly House, who cared so tenderly for David since 1995, and who became his second family.

Funeral arrangements will be private and will be handled by Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. of Troy.  Contributions may be made in David’s memory to the Center for Disability Services for Rielly House, 314 South Manning Blvd, Albany, New York, 12208.
