Constance M. Stowell Sluus, 78

Troy Constance M. Stowell Sluus, 78, of Burns Apartments, died Wednesday at Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Albany, she was daughter of the late Homer and Ada Longtin Stowell and wife of the late Elmer Hansen Sluus. She was raised in Watervliet and Lansingburgh, lived most of her married life in Eagle Mills and was educated at Watervliet Public School #3.

Mrs. Sluus was employed as a retail clerk at Lodges and for Schatz Stationary for several years and was a homemaker for many years.

She was a member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Eagle Mills and Eagle Mills United Methodist Church prior to that and the church choir.

Survivors include two daughters, Dawne Benoit (Paul) of Cohoes and Debra Simmons ( Edward) of Guilderland; her step children, Albert (Jack) Sluus of Jacksonville, Florida; Carol DiMaggio of Troy; Barbara LeClair ( Dick) of Wynantskill; Donna Gamer of Poestenkill; Karen Williams ( Paul) of Newport, Tennessee; Roger Sluus of Hudson Falls; Robert Sluus (Cindy) of Palm Bay, Florida and Dennis Sluus of Troy; a brother Raymond Stowell of Florida; a half-sister, Edessa Privee of San Diego; a half brother, Ronald LePage of Massachusetts; her grandchildren, Eric Benoit and Jennifer Boland along with 31 additional grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sons Lawrence Stowell and Gary Sluus; three brothers Harrison, George and Melvin Stowell and four sisters, Rhea Carrey, Loretta Picarrillo and Audrey and Shirley Stowell.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 8:00pm at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. David Martin, Pastor of Hope United Methodist Church and Rev. Denise Stringer, Pastor of First United Methodist Church of Voorheesville, officiating . Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home prior to the service Friday from 5-8pm. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
