Clara 'Smiles' Ziliotto Tardino, 89

Delmar, NY- Clara 'Smiles' Ziliotto Tardino, 89, of Delmar Place, died Saturday, August 5, 2006, at St. Peter's Hospital in Albany.

She was the beloved wife of Victor J. Tardino, Sr. for 65 years. Born in Greenwich Village, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Luigi Ziliotto and Pierina Paolicchi.

She recently resided in Delmar, NY, was a previous resident of Manhasset, Long Island and Bronxville, summering many years at Peach Lake, NY.

After graduating from John Adams High School and Brooklyn College (she was a member of the college varsity fencing team).

Mrs. Tardino was happiest being a homemaker and caring for her family. Over the years, she was also able to volunteer for many projects and causes. Her interests varied, but most recently included dedication to the Bronxville Beautification Committee and the Bronxville River Parkway Preservation Society; she worked tirelessly for both. She was a master gardener and forward thinker often on the cutting edge of health and fitness issues.

In addition to her loving and devoted husband, Mrs. Tardino is survived by her 6 children, 14 grandchildren, 2 great grandsons, her sister, Eleanor, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her older brother, Henry and older sister, Matilda.

A private celebration of Clara's life was held on August 6th. Those wishing to do so may make contributions to the charity of their choice.
