Charles M. Brown, 86

Wynantskill - Charles M. Brown, 86, of Meadowlark Lane, died Thursday, September 11, 2008, at Heritage House Nursing Center after a brief illness.

Born in Fremont, Nebraska, he was the son of the late Ernest Arthur Brown and Bertha (Prediger) Brown and husband of Louise Sinsig Brown and the late Helen D. Powers Brown.

He was raised in Fremont, Nebraska and resided in California, White Plains, Albany, Averill Park and for the past 38 years in Wynantskill and was educated at Fremont Senior High School and attended Ball State Teachers College in Muncie, Indiana.

Mr. Brown was a superintendent of Motor Vehicles and for 32 years worked for the US Postal Service in White Plains and later in Albany, retiring 30 years ago.

He was an Army veteran of World War II serving in the 9th Army Headquarters finance section.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, James (Janet) Chiefari of Grafton, Joseph Chiefari of Denver, CO, Katherine (Douglas McNutt) Harras of Colorado Springs, CO, Leonard Chiefari of Brunswick and Michael (Jan) Brown of Grand Canyon, AZ; his grandchildren, Robert (Maria) Chiefari, Philip Chiefari, Amy Ryan, James and David Chiefari and Joshua Brown and four great grandchildren, Luke Ryan and Troy, Derek and Savannah Chiefari. He was predeceased by several brothers and sisters.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:45AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 3-6PM.

Interment Oakwood Cemetery in Troy.
