Caroline Mittelsted DeFreest, 95 East Greenbush Caroline Mittelsted DeFreest, 95, died Monday at Rosewood Gardens East Greenbush, after a long illness. Born in Brunswick, she was daughter of the late August and Mary Horlacher Mittelsted and wife of the late Martin Pearson and Ensign DeFreest. She was raised in Brunswick and Eagle Mills and had resided in Defreestville for over 40 years on Thompson Court. Mrs. DeFreest was a homemaker and employed by the East Greenbush School District for several years. Many years ago she worked on the family farm. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of North Greenbush, Home Bureau and Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Defreestville. Survivors include a daughter Carol Gardner of East Greenbush; a granddaughter Wendy L. Gardner of Defreestville; a grandson Kevin R. Gardner of CA; a step son Dudley DeFreest of North Greenbush; a step daughter Emmaline DeFreest of Troy and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by several late brothers and sisters. Funeral service will be held Friday at 11am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy with Rev. James Hart Brumm, Pastor of the Blooming Grove Reformed Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Friday from 10-11am prior to the service. Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
