Carl G. L. Erickson

Troy Carl G. L. Erickson, a Troy native and resident for 68 years of McChesney Court, died on October 25, two days after celebrating his 93rd birthday.

Second son of Swedish immigrants Samuel and Alma Lindholm Erickson, he attended Troy public schools and graduated from Troy High School in 1930. He was employed at the Watervliet Arsenal during the Second World War and later by the Dairyman's League and Hudson Valley Community College, where he supervised building maintenance.

In retirement, Mr Erickson collaborated with his son on the restoration of several 19th century buildings in Troy's Pottery District and at Third Street at the Courthouse. The most recent product of that collaboration is the restoration of the Townsend McCoun House , an important Federal-style house in the Financial Quarter.

He was the husband for 64 years of Marion Kittell Erickson, who died in 2001, and is survived by his son Carl S. Erickson of the Pottery District, and his nephew Stephen A. Erickson of Saratoga Springs.

Friends are invited to a celebration of the life of Carl G. L. Erickson at the Townsend McCoun House, 12 State Street Troy, on Saturday, November 5 from 4-8PM

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rensselaer County Historical Society, 57 Second Street, Troy, New York, 12180, to benefit the Alma Lindholm Erickson Interpretive Trus
