Brunilda Velazquez

Albany - Brunilda Velazquez, 67, of Northern Blvd died Friday, March 10, 2017, at Hudson Park Rehab & Nursing Center after a long illness.

Born in Lajas, Parguera, Puerto Rico, she was daughter of  Lauriana  Perez Velazquez, Troy and the late Marcos Velazquez and wife of Neon Santiago. She had resided most of her life in Troy and was a graduate of Troy High School, class of 1970 and attended the State University of New York at Albany. 

Brunilda was a homemaker.  She was a black belt in Karate and enjoyed knitting, was dedicated to her family and loved spending time with her grandchildren.    

Survivors in addition to her husband include two daughters, Miriam (Robin) Castiglione-Santiago, Delmar and Angelica Santiago, Troy; three grandchildren,  Alisia and Mariah Willett and David Santiago; her siblings, Daniel  Velazquez, Troy, Maria Van Wert, Troy, Marta Velazquez, Troy, Antonio  Velazquez, Troy, Julia  Bradley, Troy, Marcos  Velazquez, Troy, Josephine  Velazquez, Lajas, Puerto Rico and Luz Velazquez, Averill Park and many nieces and nephews. 

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Ave. Troy
on Monday, March13, 2017 from 4-7PM. 

Funeral service will be held Tuesday,  at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Anthony of Padua Church State Street Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Francis Walter, OFM , Pastor.

Interment will be in  St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Brunilda Velazquez to the American Diabetes Association 2 Pine West Plaza Albany, NY 12205.
