Seminole, FL Betty J. Baker Collins , 74,of Seminole, FL and Troy died peacefully surrounded by her loved ones on Sunday, February 13, 2005 at Largo Medical Center in Largo, Florida.

Born in Faith, SD, she was the daughter of the late Gene Baker and Melissa (Teller) Baker.

She was raised in South Dakota and came to the Troy area in the mid 1950's and wintered in Florida for over 10 years and attended schools in Faith, South Dakota and beauty school in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Mrs. Collins was proprietor of the Terminal Tavern on Pawling Avenue in Troy from 1977-1994 and prior to that worked at the Crooked Lake Hotel and Park Restaurant in Averill Park and was a hair stylist for Sandpiper Salon in Averill Park..

She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion in Seminole, Florida and the Rensselaer County Hotel Tavern Owners Association.

She is survived by a loving companion, William Carroll of Seminole, FL and Troy; a son, Tommy Collins (Kelly) of Troy; a sister, Mildred Hill of Pierre, SD; two grandchildren, TJ and Sarah Collins and several cousins, nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a son, Gregory J. Collins and a brother-in-law, Max Hill.

Funeral service will be held Friday at 11:00 AM at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Donald Ophals, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Thursday, from 3-5 and 7-9pm. Interment Elmwood Cemetery in West Sand Lake.

Contributions may be made in memory of Mrs. Collins to the Ladies Auxiliary of the American Legion of Seminole, Florida or Sand Lake Center for the Arts for the Circle Theatre Players or the Booster Club of Tamarac School. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
