Averill Park - Bertha Loker Sour of Averill Park died peacefully at Our Lady of Mercy Life Center in Guilderland, Thursday, October 11, 2018. The Lord blessed her on her journey home.
She was born April 29, 1925 in a farm home in Berlin and was a 1943 graduate of Berlin High School. Bertha was the daughter of the late Nelson Loker and Flossie Carr Loker.
During WWII, she worked at Faith Mills in Averill Park on the Burden Lake Road. In her free time, she was an avid book reader, enjoyed going to the stock car races at the Lebanon Valley Speedway and liked to travel with her daughter. She loved all her family pets and delighted in seeing birds and wildlife visit her yard where she fed them all year long.
She is survived by her loving son, Joby (Maria) Sour, Guilderland, two grandchildren Kara and Christopher Sour and was predeceased by her beloved husband, Joseph T. Sour, her daughter, Linda Marie Sour, and her sister, Elsie Marie Loker.
At Bertha's request, there will be no calling hours. A private graveside service for family will be held at the Berlin Community Cemetery with Rev. Sam Kupeyan, officiating. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Bertha L. Sour to the Averill Park and Sand Lake Fire Company Eastern Union Turnpike Averill Park, NY 12018.
