Beatrice Dingman Palmer, 93

Troy - Beatrice Dingman Palmer, 93, of Burdett Avenue died Monday May 5, 2008 at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center.

Born in Hudson, NY, she was daughter of the late Harry C. Dingman and Beulah (DesMarais) Dingman and wife of the late Stephen T. Palmer.

She was a long time resident of Lansingburgh, prior to living at the Beechwood Community for past 12 years.

Mrs. Palmer attended Simmons College and Brooklyn College and worked during the 1950s in the Comptrollers Office at RPI.

In 1990 she was named to the Honor Roll of NYS Federation of Women's Clubs for 35 years of community service through variety of organizations including: a35 year volunteer at Leonard Hospital; a board member of the Visiting Nurse Association; past president of Troy Women's Club, past president of Women's Group of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and past board member of both Rensselaer County and Lansingburgh Historical Societies. She also belonged to the Tuesday Club, Thursday Morning Club, Van Rensselaer Garden Club and the Ilium Literary Club which recently made her an honorary life member. She was a member of the Dutch Settlers Society of Albany through her ancestor, Adam Dingman.

Survivors include three daughters, Lucy Fulton of Manchester, CT, Susan VanDyne of Henderson, NV and Rhoda 'Dodie' Amundson of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Julia Graham of Mansfield, CT, Graham Fulton of Ellington, CT and Leslie Craw of Parker, CO, as well as 6 great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her brother, 2nd Lt Harry D. Dingman.

Funeral service will be private at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.
