Welcome to the memorial page for

Barbara Jean (O'Connor) Lipschultz

November 5, 1938 ~ April 15, 2015 (age 76) 76 Years Old

Averill Park - Barbara Jean (O'Connor) Lipschultz, age 76, beloved wife of Stuart Lipschultz, passed into eternity on Wednesday, April 15, 2015. She was surrounded by her loving family. She and her husband would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on October 30th of this year.

Born November 5, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Edmund and Rose (Callahan) O'Connor.

Barbara was raised in Taunton, MA, graduated from St. Mary's High School, Boston University and the Boston College Graduate School of Social Work.

Until becoming a mother, she was employed by the Rensselaer County Department of Social Services as a social worker in the daycare placement unit.

Barbara was the beloved and cherished mother to Patricia (Matthew) Cunningham of Cohasset, MA, Michael (Sheila) Lipschultz of Halfmoon, and Katherine (Alexander) Gonzalez of Halfmoon.  She was the beloved "Nana" to Jack, Charlie, Nora, Mikey, Jake, Ally, Abby and  Lauren. She is also survived by many cousins, dear friends and neighbors.

Barbara's greatest joy and fulfillment was her devotion to her husband and her family. She was always the "protector" of her loved ones, keeping them safe, warm on the coldest of days and on watch for perils lurking around the next corner. Her Irish wit brought so much laughter to her loved ones on holidays and family gatherings. She will be always remembered for her brilliant memory, favorite homemade recipes and funny surprise gifts to family and friends.

Barbara was a daily "champion" at Jeopardy, and also enjoyed her crossword puzzles every morning and would read at least two books a week in retirement. She and Stu loved cruising, traveling to magical ports and countries throughout the world.
