Antonetta Maria Stoops (DeVito) Catel

Wynantskill - Antonetta Maria DeVito Catel, 93, of Rt 355 died Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.

Born in Mechanicville, she was daughter of the late Constanzo DeVito and Maria Longo DeVito and wife of the late Maurice George Catel and Eugene Stoops. She was raised in Mechanicville until moving to Troy in the 50's and was the only sibling to graduate from high school, Mechanicville class of 1940. 

Mrs. Catel held many jobs; from engine wiper for D&H Railroad, piece work for Cluett, Peabody & Co., and worked at General Electric and the Mechanicville Knitting Company.  

She was a disabled World War II veteran of the Women's Army Corp as an x-ray technician. She enjoyed reading, embroidery, sewing, was an artist and wonderful mother and loving wife. 

Survivors include her children, Martha L. Garland-Catel, Wynantskill, Maurice George Catel, Hudson and Victoria Maria Stoops, Springfield, MO; her grandchildren, Zach (Ashley) Garland-Catel, Maurice G.  and Nicholas Catel, Jennifer and Rebecca Stoops, Vicki Lee, Michael Lee, Daniel Lee and Annie Marie; step grandchildren, Bobby G. Jr. and Brian Garland and Christopher; 17 great grandchildren; a brother, Connie (Patty) and several nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.  She was predeceased by her siblings, Marty, Tony, Mickey, Jenny, Angie, Grace, Mary and Michaelina.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday, from 6-9 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Monday at 8:45 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Mary's Church 10 Lodge Street Albany where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be in Albany Rural Cemetery Menands.
