Anthony S. 'Toby' TopianJuly 8, 2009
Brunswick - Anthony S. 'Toby' Topian, 79, of Country Way Apartments died suddenly Wednesday, July 08, 2009, at his home.
Born in Watervliet, he was son of the late Sahag Topian and Margaret Sukasian Topian and husband for 54 years of Rose Sunukjian Topian. He was raised in Watervliet, resided in Sycaway for 49 years and in Brunswick the past year. He was a 1946 graduate of Troy High School and attended refrigeration school and Hudson Valley Community College.
Mr. Topian was a machinist for Nashua Corporation in Watervliet, formerly Behr-Manning for 30 years retiring in 1993 and prior to that worked for Hood Ice Cream in Ravena for 10 years.
Toby was an active member of the Brunswick Lodge of Elks and a member of Hope United Methodist Church, formerly Memorial United Methodist Church. He loved to play golf, travel and the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, who were his pride and joy. He was an Army veteran of the Korean War stationed in Germany.
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Margaret 'Peggy' (Mark) Topian Mayfield of Upton, MA; a son, David J. (Mary) Topian of Victor, NY; his grandchildren, Katelyn Rose, Justin Rivers and Alison Leigh Mayfield and Trevor Anthony and Shauna Bridget Topian and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Harry and John Topian and three sisters, Sara Kaprielian and Rose and Nova Topian.
Funeral service will be held Sunday at 1:00 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. David Martin, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 4-7 PM.
Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
