Anne F. (Fitzgerald) Farrell

Troy - Anne Fitzgerald Farrell, 89, passed away peacefully on August, 7 2016, after a long illness, surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Troy, NY, Anne was the daughter of the late Edmund S. and Elizabeth Sheary Fitzgerald. She was a graduate of the Noroton School of the Convent of the Sacred Heart and Marymount College.

Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband of 57 years, John D. (Don) Farrell, and her sisters, Margaret Fitzgerald Andrae and Therese Fitzgerald Kelly.

She is survived by her loving sister, Elizabeth Fitzgerald Minshall (Donald) and devoted children, Anne Farrell Minehan (Mark), John Farrell (June), Kathleen Farrell, and Therese Farrell O’Callaghan (Daniel); and grandchildren Elizabeth Peterson (Christopher), Bridget Ammerman (Matthew), Holly Frenyea (Jeremy), Erin and Laura Farrell, and Edmund O’Callaghan, and great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Peterson.

A devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, she was also an active volunteer for her community and a talented needlework artist and quilter. As a former member of the Junior League of Troy, she served as a volunteer for several community organizations, particularly the Rensselaer County Junior Museum and Sunnyside Center in Troy. She was also a former member of the Capital District Chapter of the Embroiders’ Guild and the Q.U.I.L.T. Society. 

Her family will carry with them her love and devotion, her great faith, her grace, her humor, her spontaneity, and her passion for learning new things whenever possible.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Thursday, August 11, 2016,  from 4 - 7PM. 

Funeral service will be held Friday at 9:30AM from the funeral home and at 10:00AM from Sacred Heart Church, 310 Spring Avenue, Troy, NY, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated. 

Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy.
