Ann Dearstyne Griswold, 75

Troy - Ann Dearstyne Griswold, 75, of Sixth Avenue in Lansingburgh died peacefully Wednesday, September 29, 2010, at Eddy Memorial Geriatric Center after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Lawrence S. Dearstyne and Lila Bonesteel Dearstyne. She was raised in Wynantskill and resided in Troy and Lansingburgh most of her adult life. Ann was a graduate of Troy High School.

Mrs. Griswold was the Administrative Assistant to the Director of the Educational Opportunity Center in Troy, retiring in 1995 after nearly 30 years of dedicated service. She was a member of the First Reformed Church of Wynantskill.

Ann was an avid gardener, reader, and traveler with her backyard perennial beds and trips to Perkins Cove, Maine among her many passions. Ann was a tireless cheerleader, advocate and mentor to her family and loyal, compassionate friend to the many others who were fortunate enough to have been part of her life. Ann's quick wit, humble dignity and endlessly positive attitude shone through to the end despite the debilitating nature of her illness.

Survivors include her children, Jeffrey T. (Diane) Griswold of Clifton Park, Thomas L. (Lynne) Griswold of Troy, Elizabeth (Timothy) Cahrenger of Waterford and Patrick (Kristin) Griswold of Schaghticoke; a sister, Martha (Vito) Colangelo of Brunswick; her grandchildren, William, Thomas, Katie, Ethan and Jacob; a great granddaughter, Alexandra of Long Island and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Richard Dearstyne.

Ann's family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary staff at the Marjorie Doyle Rockwell Center whom made her final four years as dignified, comfortable and loving as any family could ever hope.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10AM at First Reformed Church of Wynantskill Church Street Wynantskill with Rev. Kerri Weldon, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery.
