Ann Grant Duke Miller, 97

Indianapolis, IN - Ann Grant Duke Miller, 97, of Indianapolis, formerly of Troy and Albany, passed away February 19, 2014. She was born November 7, 1916 in Albany, to the late Alexander and Helen Ironside Duke. She was a graduate of Albany High School and attended Albany Business College.

Ann served her country during WWII in the U.S. Navy as a WAVE at Sampson Navy Base, and married Robert A. Miller. She was employed as the Executive Secretary for the Treasurer at RPI many years ago and for the Vice President of RCA in Indianapolis. Ann was a current member of Castleton United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, and a former member of the Pawling Avenue United Methodist Church in Troy and the First Congregational Church of Albany .

Ann was a devoted wife and mother, supporting her children in 4-H and had a high regard for education. She was the current Chaplain of John H. Holliday, Jr., American Legion Post #186 and in the W.A.V.E. Group, and a member of O.E.S. Palestine Star #167, Lansingburgh, NY. Ann and her husband were very active when he was Monarch of Sahara Grotto and Commissioner of the Great Lakes Regional Clan Donald, USA. She was a member of the Embroiders Guild of America and an accomplished dressmaker.

Ann is survived by her children, Raymond A. Miller and Jeannette D. Oglesby (John T. Oglesby, II, M.D.); grandchildren, Pamela (Cathy) Miller, Richard (Vanessa) Miller and Suzanne (John) Canis; granddaughter-in-law, Dorothy Deutsch; and great-grandchildren, Taylor, Stephen, Andrew, Ethan, Nicole and Rachel. Ann's husband, Robert A. Miller; son-in-law, Lowell Deutsch; and grandson, David Deutsch, preceded her in death.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, February 28, 2014 from 10AM-12 Noon with a service to follow at Noon with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating.

Interment will be in Memory Gardens Colonie.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Ann Miller to the O.E.S. Palestine Star #167, 75 Water Plant Road Troy, NY 12182 or the Castleton United Methodist Church, 7101 N. Shadeland Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46256.
