Welcome to the memorial page for

Angela D'Alessandro

September 19, 1927 ~ October 25, 2017 (age 90) 90 Years Old

Troy - Angela Rose D’Alessandro, 90, died on Wednesday October 26, 2017 at the Springs Nursing and Rehab Center after a long illness.  She was born on September 19, 1927 in Troy, NY and was the daughter of the late Peter John D’Alessandro and Agnes Rubino D’Alessandro.  As a young girl, she attended School 16, a wooden schoolhouse which burned because of the bakery attached to the school house which made fresh bread pies and cookies for the children and neighborhood and was located on the East side of Troy.  Angela then graduated from Troy High School.  She learned the Palmer Method of Handwriting of Clerical Skills and received a diploma signed by Mr. Palmer himself.  Her whole career was spent at RPI as a secretary in the Metallurgy Department and Chemical Engineering.  She enjoyed the people there immensely and had the opportunity through RPI to travel to Africa, India, China, Russia, Greece, Morocco, France, Italy, Spain, Sicily, Singapore and several other interesting countries accompanied by other RPI faculty and staff members.  She greatly enjoyed cooking and her family.  She was famous for her prolific culinary skills and on occasion speaking her mind.  She enjoyed reading and communicated in writing with columnist Andy Rooney.  At one point she received a letter from Andy Rooney as a response to one of his articles.  While she may argue or disagree with you as a matter of opinion, she was very quick to resolve things with a fresh batch of cookies.  She touched the lives of many people in a very up front plain spoken positive manner.

Survivors include her brother-in-law, Dr. Robert Reeves of Troy; her nephew, Russ Reeves; niece, Andrea (Bijan) Davari of Mahopac, NY and Judi Reeves of Troy; grand nieces and nephews, Laurie (Ameya) Deoras, Rob (Carolyn) Reeves, Danielle Davari and John and Stephen Reeves.  She was pre-deceased by her sister, Rose Reeves and her nephew, John Reeves.  She immensely enjoyed the companionship of her sister and her cousins, Yvonne Brignola, Elizabeth (Bithie) Muscatello, Connie Tanski, and Carolyn Testo all of Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc., 276-Pawling Avenue in Troy on Saturday October 28, 2017 from 12 noon-1PM with a brief service to follow at 1PMwith the Reverend Edward Kacerguis officiating.  Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Troy.  In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Angela D’Alessandro to the Wildwood Program.
