Troy - Andrew M. Martin, Esq., 37, of Vandenburgh Place died suddenly Monday, January 11, 2010.

Born in Pittsfield, MA, he was son of the late Diane L. Beaver Martin of Pittsfield.

Andrew was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School where he was class president and orator. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Siena College in 1994 and a law degree from Albany Law School in 1997. After law school he accepted a position with the Rensselaer County District Attorney's Office, where he became Bureau Chief of the Drug and DWI Unit. Andrew was instrumental in the creation of the Alison Bodnar DWI Victims Memorial. After 10 years with the DA's office, he entered into a private practice with Kenneth Bruno, Esq. before accepting a position with the NYS Education Department.

Andrew was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and a member of the Parish Council and was an active member of the Ancient Order of Hibernian's in Albany, the Rensselaer County Bar Association, and the Rensselaer County Law Enforcement Association.

Andrew is survived by his companion Geraldine as well as his many close friends who always considered him a part of their family. He was a devoted friend and had a heart of gold.

Andrew loved spending time with friends and loved Irish music, fine cigars, good conversation, and the New England Patriots. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known his kindness, laugh and smile.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 12 Noon at Sacred Heart Church Pawling Avenue Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Thursday from 9-11:30 AM prior to the Mass.

Entombment will be in St. Michael the Archangel Mausoleum at St. Joseph's Cemetery Pittsfield, with his mother.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Andrew Martin Memorial Fund by stopping by any SEFCU branch or by mail c/o SEFCU, 700 Patroon Creek Blvd. Albany, NY 12206.
