Aloise V. 'Kitty' McCrackan, 88

Latham - Aloise V. 'Kitty' McCrackan, 88, of Florence Drive died suddenly Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at her residence.

Born and raised in Yonkers, NY, she was the daughter of the late Harry Versen and Elizabeth Griot Versen, and the wife of the late Walter McCrackan. She was a graduate of Penn Hall in Chambersburg, PA and earned a Bachelor's degree from Beaver College in Jenkintown, PA.

Kitty resided in Troy, NY from 1949 to 1975 where she raised her family. While living in Troy, Kitty was a member of the Junior League of Troy, Troy Boys Club, Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary, Ilium Literary Club, The Country Club of Troy and an enthusiastic participant in all her children's school activities.

In 1975, Kitty and her husband, Walter, moved to Akron, OH where she became an active member of the community and was involved in the Akron Garden Club, Akron General Hospital and the Akron Junior League. She was also a member of the Portage Country Club.

Shortly after Walter's passing, Kitty moved back to the Troy area in 2007 residing at Hearthstone Village in Latham for the past six years. Once again, she was actively involved in her community making many new friends.

Kitty was a loving wife, a devoted mother, an adoring grandmother and a cherished friend. She will be remembered for her vibrant personality, her love of adventure, her gift for making friends wherever she traveled, her conversational flair and her dedication to loved ones.

Survivors include two daughters, Leslie M. (Lawrence) King of Troy; Aloise M. Parry (John A. Keegan) of Tampa, FL; a son, W. Peter (Jane) McCrackan of Cincinnati, OH; her grandchildren, Lauren King Biscone (Brendan), Erika A. Parry, and Kyle, Ryan and Shawn McCrackan; a brother, Harry Versen of Denison, FL and her dear friend Marilyn Lynn of Latham. She was predeceased by her grandson, Kevin E. King.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy on Sunday, May 19 from 4 to 7 PM. Funeral service will be held at Our Lady of Victory Church, 55 North Lake Avenue, Troy on Monday, May 20 at 9:30 AM with Kitty's friend Father Randall Patterson presiding.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Aloise V. McCrackan to the Kevin E. King Memorial Scholarship at LaSalle Institute, Williams Road, Troy, NY 12180 would be greatly appreciated.
