Alfred J. Fox, 73

Troy - Alfred J. Fox, 73, of Crockett Avenue died Thursday November 6, 2008 at Evergreen Commons after a long illness.

Born in Mechanicville, he was the son of the late Martin J. Fox; step son of the late Harold J. Crusius and brother of the late Rosemary A. Fox. He is the son of Anna C. Elvins Fox Crusius of Troy.

Alfred was loved by all who knew him. He was a lifelong resident of Troy and Albany. He attended Troy Public School 12 and School for the Blind in Batavia.

Alfred worked for the Association of the Blind in Albany for 15 years and spent 12 years working in the Alfred E. Smith vending machine cafeteria on the New York State Campus, Building 8, where he was manager, retiring in 2002.

He enjoyed bowling, traveling, and had a love for cars. He was a member of the Church of the Good Shepherd in Green Island.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his cousins, Paul ( Becky) VanArnum, Doris Perry and Paul (Paulette) Morrissette, as well as several great grand cousins and great-great grand cousins and a very close friend, Vincent Catalfamo. Alfred was predeceased by several aunts and uncles, Arthur Elvin, Alfred C. (Veronica) Elvins, Alta V. (Wesley) VanArnum and Margaret (Walter) Morrissette and a cousin, Arthur VanArnum.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11:00 AM at Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Jane Jessup Mayer, Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 4-7PM.

Interment will be in Memory's Garden in Colonie.

Contributions may be made in memory of Alfred Fox to the Church of the Good Shepard 89 Hudson Avenue Green Island, NY or the Troy and Albany Lions Clubs.
