Troy Albert Francis Spendiff, 87, of Hartwood Terrace, died Tuesday at Eddy-Ford Nursing Home Cohoes.
Born in Hoosick Falls, NY he was son of the late Francis William and Frances May Dempsey Spendiff and husband for 61 years of M. Evelyn Wheeler Spendiff. He had resided in Hoosick Falls until he was 26 years old and in Troy for the past 61 years.
Mr. Spendiff was a skilled machinist, he worked for the General Electric Company in Schenectady, Rototiller and for Zak, Inc. in Green Island for over 25 years. He retired in 1979.
He was a member of the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934-35, a member of the Kiwanis Club and the Calvary United Methodist Church in Latham. He was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors in addition to his wife include two sons James A. Spendiff and and wife Carol Ann of Lewiston, PA and Peter A. Spendiff of Troy; a daughter Margery E. Pascale and husband Ralph of Latham; a brother George Spendiff of Hoosick; six grandchildren Scott A. Spendiff of Cohoes, Wendy L. Spendiff of Troy, Lara M. Spendiff of Astoria, NY, Vincent J., Jesse M. and Danielle M. Pascale all of Latham; a nephew and a niece Rev. R. Marsden Kittley and wife Julia and Nancy Wisbauer of Thomasville, NC as well as many grand and great grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Dorothy Spendiff Frier.
Funeral service will be held Friday at 10:00AM from Calvary United Methodist Church Belle Avenue and Ridge Place in Latham with Rev. David Lockwood, Pastor, officiating.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy on Thursday from 4-7pm.
Interment Memory's Garden in Colonie.
