Albert M. Fox, 89

Troy- Albert M. Fox, 89,of Apex Lane, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at Heritage House Nursing Center in Troy after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was the son of the late Albert Rodmond Fox and Ethel (Pierson) Fox and husband of Alice J. Williams Rigaud Fox.

He had resided in Troy his entire life and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1935 and Simmons School of Embalming in Syracuse.

Mr. Fox was a licensed funeral director with his father, operating his family business, AR Fox and Son Funeral Home at 5 Thirteenth Street Troy for over 50 years, retiring in 1987. He also worked part time for J L Thompson Wholesale Drug Company in Troy many years ago.

He was a US Army World War II veteran in the 6th Engineer Brigade attached to the 11th Division and took part in the embarkation on D-Day at Omaha Beach.

Al was a life member of the Independent Order of the Odd Fellows Albany and the Mountaineer Lodge Association and a member of the Apollo- King Solomon Masonic Lodge. He was active in the Episcopal Church throughout his life and was the Senior Warden of the Vestry of the former Church of the Ascension in Troy. Al enjoyed walking and biking in his retired years and was a lifelong Boston Red Sox fan.

Survivors in addiition to his wife include two daughters, Carolyn R. Fox (Jamie Dinkelacker) of Los Altos, CA and Marion Fox Barnett (George) of Buffalo; three step children, Yvette Rigaud Peterson (Thor) of Martha's Vineyard, Alfred John Rigaud (Kim) of Las Vegas and Suzette Ellen Hunt (Brian) of Philadelphia; four grandchildren, Sarah J. Barnett, Zachary Fox Barnett and Evan Eric and Tyler Adam Hunt and several nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two wives, Ruth Locke Fox and Dorathea Smith Fox and a brother, Rodmond P. Fox.

Funeral service will be held Monday, September 18, 2006 at 10:00 AM at the Trinity Church 1336 First Avenue in Watervliet with Rev. Martin Wendell, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the CHURCH Monday from 9-10 AM prior to the service.

Interment Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville.
