Edward Kehn, Jr. Obituary

Hernando Beach, FL - Edward J. Kehn, Jr., 66, passed away on Sunday April 7, 2024 at his home in Hernando Beach, Florida, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Ed was born in Troy, NY on May 7, 1957 to Edward, Sr. and Maureen Kehn. He grew up in Poestenkill where the neighbors on Saddle Hill Road endured listening to his many hours of playing the drums. He was a 1976 graduate of Averill Park High School where he played football and basketball.

Ed was a true music enthusiast. Growing up he was a member of the Wynantskill Drum and Bugle Corp. Later in life, he frequently joined in whenever he could with the Blind Pigs Band in Plattsburgh, usually playing the bongos.

Ed began his sales career at Boardman’s Retail Store in Albany and then went to work for Motorola, Inc. He transferred to Florida with Motorola. While in St. Petersburg, Florida, Ed went to work as a topless waiter at the Playboy Club, his favorite job ever!! He also was Sales Manager for Radio Telephone in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. In 1986, Ed was asked by his dad to move to Plattsburgh, NY to run the newly acquired office of Wells Communications. His brother, Michael, dragged him kicking and screaming all the way. Ed helped run the family business until it was sold in 2018. He was then able to return to the place he loved, the Sunshine State, where he played a lot of golf. Ed loved boating for many years on Lake Champlain where Club Ed was born, one of his favorite places to be. Most recently from his home, Club Ed South, on the Gulf of Mexico. Golfing and boating were what made him the happiest.

Ed was Past President of the Plattsburgh A.M. Rotary Club. He was proud to be part of that group for many years. He was also a member of the Foundation Board of CVPH and Past President and member of the board of the Great Lakes Motorola Service Stations.

Ed made a lot of friends wherever he went. He had a great sense of humor and was always there for a good time! Ed loved all dogs and all dogs loved Ed, too.

He was predeceased by his dad, Ed, Sr., his brother and best buddy Michael, his beloved Aunt Marno and his grandparents.

Ed is survived by his mother, Maureen, his daughter, Carrie Lynn Fountain, his son-in-law, Jon Desrocher, and his grandchildren, Liam and Maisie Desrocher. He also leaves behind his sister, Maureen Milanese, brother-in-law Mike Milanese, and sister-in-law Stephanie Kehn-Pickett. He was known as “Gunk” to his nephew Anthony Milanese and his nieces and their families, Michele, Steve and Isabella Scarff, Lindsy, Ethan and Michaela Marshall, Ashley, Jon, Grady and Lucus Hilton will miss him dearly, as well as his Uncles John and Leslie Farrell and Billy Farrell, several cousins whom he loved and many, many close friends.

Special thanks to his caregiver, special friend and companion Tammy Wagenschein.
