Winifred Dudden O'Connor, 90

Wynantskill - Winifred Dudden O'Connor, 90, formerly of Marion Avenue, Wynantskill passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 6, 2011 at Van Rensselaer Manor in Troy.

Winifred was born in Waterford to John and Gertrude Shellard Dudden. She was married for 57 years to John A. O'Connor, who passed away in 2003. Winifred was a graduate of Waterford High School and Mildred Elley School in Albany.

In her earlier years, she was employed as a secretary at Behr-Manning in Watervliet and then she became a full-time homemaker and mother of five children. After raising her family, she returned to work for the Albany Diocese at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands and retired in 1986.

Winifred was a devoted mother and grandmother and treasured spending time with her family. She also enjoyed her vacations to California, Maine and Stone Harbor with family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Survivors include a son, John E. (Joan) O'Connor, Petaluma, CA; four daughters, Kathleen M. (John) Hayes, North Greenbush, Diane M. (Gregory) Galuski, North Greenbush, Mary W. (Philip) Grogan, Wynantskill and Nancy J. O'Connor, Gardnerville, NV. She was the proud grandmother of Tricia (Alain) St. Hilaire, Laura (Christopher) Doyle, Christopher and Colin Galuski, Patrick, Kevin and Erin Grogan and Kelly O'Connor; and the great-grandmother of Amelia and Alistair St. Hilaire and Calum Doyle. Winifred is also survived by a sister, Daisy G. McGuirk, Saratoga; and a very dear cousin, Reverend James Vaughan. She was predeceased by three brothers, Edward, Donald and Raymond Dudden and a sister, Dorothy Barbolt.

The family wishes to extend special thanks to the staff on B1 at Van Rensselaer Manor who took loving care of Winifred.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday from 4-7.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10am at the funeral home and at 10:30am at Sacred Heart Church Troy where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. James J. Vaughan. Interment will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Menands.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Winifred O'Connor to Community Hospice of Rensselaer County, 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144 or to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation P.O. Box 650309 Dallas, TX 75265-0309.
