William C. Sweet, 79

Brunswick - William C. Sweet, 79, died Friday, August 2, 2013, at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late William Yourt Sweet and Helen Grimm Sweet and husband of Rita Abair Sweet. He had resided in Eagle Mills most of his life and was a graduate of Troy High School and attended Siena College.

Mr. Sweet was retired from Troy Belting and Supply after 48 years in sales, a Paddock Judge at the Saratoga Harness Track and later transported cars for Action Chevrolet.

He was Brunswick Democratic Committee Chairman and a member of the Sons of the American Revolution, Taconic Valley Rod & Gun Club, Watervliet Senior Center, Brunswick Historical Society and was a communicant of Our Lady of Victory Church. He was an active outdoorsman, fishing, golfing, flying model airplanes and his passion, geocaching. He was an Army veteran during the Korean War stationed in Germany.

Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, W. Matthew Sweet, Brunswick, Ellen Sweet, Cohoes and Samuel (Tina) Sweet, Enfield, NH; his step children, Irene Fort, Manhattan, Christopher (Margaret) Fort, West Sand Lake and Rachael (Eric) Siegelman, Niskayuna; his grandchildren, Jason, Kevin, William, Nicholas, Emily and Mason Sweet and Aaron and Elena Siegelman and 2 great grandchildren.

Relatives and friends may call at Our Lady of Victory Church 55 North Lake Avenue Troy on Thursday, from 10-11 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM with Rev. Randall Patterson, Pastor.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of William C. Sweet to the Mohawk and Hudson River Humane Society 3 Oakland Avenue Menands, NY 12204.
