William B. Senter

West Sand Lake - William B. Senter, 88, died suddenly Monday, February 8, 2016, at Samaritan Hospital.

Born in Rensselaer, he was son of the late Charles E. Senter and Edna J. Bedell Senter and husband for 67 years of Joan Sanderson Senter. He was raised and resided in Rensselaer for many years, moving to West Sand Lake in 1975  and was a graduate of Rensselaer High School. 

Bill was an engineer for Verizon for 42 years, retiring 26 years ago.  

He was a member of the Telephone Pioneers and enjoyed woodworking, golfing, gardening and spending time with his family.  Bill was an Air Force veteran of World War II.

Survivors in addition to his wife include a son, David Senter (Stacy Barboza), West Sand Lake; a daughter, Barbara Horine, West Sand Lake; four grandchildren, Christopher (Alicia) Senter, West Sand Lake, Katherine (James) Adalian, Nassau, Matthew (Nicole) Senter, Averill Park and Megan (Jacob) Weitzel, Averill Park and two great grandchildren, Jacob and Lilah Senter. He was predeceased by a sister, Helen Edna Senter and a brother, Ernest Senter.

Funeral service will be held Friday, February 12, 2016 at 10:30 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush, officiating.

Interment will be in Greenbush Cemetery East Greenbush at a later date.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of William B. Senter to the Charity of one's choice.
