William H. O'Brien Sr., 81 Troy William H. O'Brien Sr., 81, of Ford Avenue, died Friday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness. Born in Troy, he was son of the late John W. and Carrie Helfrich O'Brien and husband of the late Rae E. Miller O'Brien. He had resided in the Troy area all his life and was a graduate of Catholic Central High School. Mr. O'Brien was employed at John A. Manning Paper Company in Green Island for 43 years retiring 20 years ago. He was a member of the Troy Lodge of Elks, Emerald Athletic Club, Vagabond Club, Geerholt- Rehm Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post Wynantskill, American Legion Post Wynantskill, the Paper makers Union; a communicant of Sacred Heart Church in Troy and was an active member of the East Side Seniors. He was an Army veteran of World War II stationed in Guadalcanal. Survivors include a son William H. O'Brien Jr. of Troy ; a beloved friend Aileen Picarillo of Troy; a daughter-in-law Sandra O'Brien of Colonie; several grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son James W. O'Brien and a brother John W. O'Brien. Funeral service will be held Monday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues in Troy and at 9:30am from Sacred Heart Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.
