William H. Hoffman

Poestenkill William H. Hoffman, of Snyders Corners Road, died Saturday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a long illness.

Born in Poestenkill, he was son of the late Delmar and Mary Teal Hoffman and husband for 60 years of Rose P. Snyder Hoffman. He had resided in Poestenkill all his life and was educated in Poestenkill schools. He camped many years on Lake Champlain.

Mr. Hoffman was employed at Sterling Winthrop in Rensselaer as a machinist for 40 years, retiring 19 years ago.

He was a member of the Poestenkill Evangelical Lutheran Church and an Army veteran of World War II. He was an avid fisherman.

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters Cheryl Durgan of Maine and Darlene Belleard of Latham; 4 grandchildren Jamie Bielawa, Bobby Belleard, and Bryan and Brett Lewis; 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a sister Hazel and four brothers Vernon, Alton, Arnold and Walter.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00am from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. Raymond Strawn Jr., Pastor of the Poestenkill Evangelical Lutheran Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 3-6pm. Interment St. Joseph's Cemetery in Troy. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Hoffman to the Poestenkill Fire Company or Poestenkill Ambulance Poestenkill, NY 12140.
