William J. 'Pop' Finnen, 87

Troy - William J. 'Pop' Finnen, 87, of Delaware Avenue died Tuesday, November 13, 2012, suddenly at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Charles T. Finnen and Anna Rinn Finnen and husband for 60 years of Patricia Dolan Finnen. He had resided in Troy all his life and attended St. Lawrence School and Troy High School.

Mr. Finnen was a machine operator for Nashua Corporation, formerly Behr-Manning for 38 years retiring 28 years ago.

He was a member of the Papermakers Union and the Emerald Athletic Club and was an avid walker in Prospect Park. Before St. Francis de Sales closed, he was Co-President of the couples club, worked on the bazaars with Chuck and Gus. Bill enjoyed the simpler things in life. He wasn't a traveler but, enjoyed going out to eat at his favorite places, Mother's Day at the Lake George Club, pig roast at the Emerald Athletic Club and riding to Cambridge to the Burger Den. Popsie also enjoyed Maureen's liver and bacon and JoAnn's chili sauce. Bill also loved his vacations at Hedges Lake with the Keenans, Ratigans, and Wickwares and Lake Luzerne with Gus, Jane, Maura, Darren and Chris. But, most of all, Bill truly loved spending time with his family.

Survivors in addition to his wife include three sons, Bill Finnen, Diamond Point, Patrick Finnen, Las Vegas and Tom Finnen, Troy; a daughter, Maura (Darren) King, Lansingburgh; his siblings, Anna Mae Felter, Troy, Charles Finnen, Troy and Jane Finlan, Northport, FL; his grandchildren, Ryan (Becca) Finnen, Tara (Tim) Baker, Michael Finnen, Erin, and Megan Finnen and Christopher King; two great granddaughters, Olivia Finnen and Kelsey Baker and a niece and two nephews.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 3-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home and at 10 AM at St. Anthony Shrine Church Troy where where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Mario Jullian , Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of William J. Finnen to the Sisters of St. Joseph Retirement Fund 385 Watervliet-Shaker Road Latham, NY 12110.
