William P. Brennan Sr., 71

Wynantskill - William P. Brennan Sr., 71, retired Troy Policeman, of Bellemeade Street died Thursday, May 26, 2011, at his residence.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late John E. Brennan and Emma F. Hall Brennan. He was raised in Troy and resided in Wynantskill for the past 25 years. He was a 1955 graduate of Troy High School.

Bill was a patrolman for the Troy Police Department for 22 years and also worked security for Golub Corporation at the Industrial Park in Rotterdam for 20 years, retiring 10 years ago.

He was a member of the Troy PBA, Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #14, Police Conference of NY and a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church. He crossed the Arctic Circle on September 1960 aboard the USS Maron. Bill was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War.

Survivors include two sons, William P. (Cheryl) Brennan Jr., Troy and Dominick S. (Danielle) Brennan, Saratoga; a daughter, Amy Brennan, Wynantskill; a daughter-in-law, Candace Brennan, Brunswick; a sister, Joan Hoffmeister, FL; five grandchildren, Dom Jr., Joey, Meaghan, Michael, and Julia; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Rocky and leaves behind many close friends. He was predeceased by a son, John E. Brennan and a sister, Jean Hoffmeister.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Tuesday, from 4-7 PM with a service following at 7PM with Rev. Chris Lambertson, Troy Police Chaplain, officiating.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Jude the Apostle Church Wynantskill where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Anthony Ligato, Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
