William Travis Alden, 64

Averill Park William Travis Alden, 64, of the Alps Family Campground on Route 43, died Wednesday at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness.

Born in Albany, he was son of the late John Henry and Margaret Wolford Alden. He was raised in Glenmont, since 1944 resided in North Greenbush and the past 8 years at Alps Family Campground. He attended Averill Park High School.

Mr. Alden drove school bus and worked in maintenance for the Averill Park School District for over 20 years, retiring 7 years ago.

He donated a portion of his farm in North Greenbush to the Classie Lassies softball organization and then proceeded to maintain the property for the last several years. He was an avid RPI hockey fan and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Sand Lake.

Survivors include a son, William Alden of Moab, UT; a daughter, Deborah of Moab, UT; a sister, Priscilla Conger of Syracuse; a sister-in-law, Bertha Alden of Schenectady;7 grandchildren; a great granddaughter and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother John H. Alden Jr.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2:00pm from the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake with Rev. Bruce Benander, Pastor of the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Saturday from 12-2pm prior to the service. Interment Freehold Christian Cemetery, Freehold, NY. Contributions may be made in memory of Mr. Alden to Classie Lassies PO Box 429 Wynantskill, NY 12198.
