Virginia E. Boyer, 87

North Greenbush - Virginia E. Boyer, 87, formerly of Troy Towers died Wednesday, December 23, 2009, at the Van Rensselaer Manor after a brief illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Hugh Simpson and Ethel Newton Simpson and wife of the late Medard D. Boyer. She resided in Troy all of her life and was educated in Troy Schools.

Mrs. Boyer worked for various companies throughout her life which included Sim & Company, The A & P Tea Company and The Samaritan School of Nursing.

Survivors include a son, Gary (Patricia) Ellnor of Clifton Park; two grandsons Michael (Kelly) McGillycuddy of Scotia; two Great Grandchildren Megan and Matthew; Kevin (Christina) McGillycuddy of Dublin, Ireland; three more great grandchildren Kyla, Anya, and Dylan.

She is also survived by her brother Hugh (Jane) C. Simpson of Troy as well five Nieces and nephews: Richard (Monica) Simpson of Rochester, NY; Nancy Simpson of Schenectady; Mark Simpson of Troy; Diane (Mark) Kearney of Troy and Kelly (Thomas) Seager of Rochester, NY.

Virginia loved her family. Her great grandchildren brought her much joy and happiness. She also treasured the time she spent with her granddaughter Kelly, having lunch and going shopping.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 29th at 11am at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday December 28th from 4 - 8.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in memory of Virginia E. Boyer to the Samaritan Hospital School of Nursing 2215 Burdett Avenue Troy, NY 12180.
