Orleans, MA - Virginia M. Erniger Anderson, 90, of Orleans and Troy, N.Y. died peacefully surrounded by her family on July 27, 2016.
She was the loving and devoted wife of Edward S. Anderson to whom she was married for 69 years. Born in Troy, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Martha (Greif) Erniger. Virginia graduated from Troy High School in 1943. She was a clerical worker for R.P.I. and for the State of New York Registrar’s office.
Virginia and her family vacationed for many years on Cape Cod and moved there permanently in 1985. There she continued working for her son’s plumbing business.
Virginia enjoyed life and made friends easily. During her retirement years she and Ed traveled often to Chazy Lake, NY, Dumfries, VA, and Ocala, FL. She enjoyed watching and feeding birds, creating photo albums and sewing. She was an exceptional mender! She also loved to play cards and board games with everyone, especially with her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Cheryl B. Overholt. She is survived by her husband, Edward, son, E. Steven (Nancy) Anderson of Orleans, and her son-in-law, Philip Overholt of Dumfries, VA. She was the loving grandmother of Mark (Amy) Overholt of Pulaski, VA, Ryan Overholt of Kingston, Kate (fiancé Mike Jopson) O’Brien of Brewster, and Alicia (Jeff) Hyde of Orleans. She was also great-grandmother “Grossmama” to Meleah Overholt, Jackson, Lilyana and Maverick Overholt, Camden and Callie O’Brien and Noah and Maya Hyde. She is also survived by her much loved Goddaughter Jeanne Ruddy of Lake Katrine, NY along with several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Monday, August 15, 2016 from 10-11 AM with a service to follow at 11 AM with Rev. Gusti Linnea Newquist, officiating.
Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
