Thomas M. Goyer

May 8, 1942 ~ November 23, 2015 (age 73) 73 Years Old

Wynantskill - Thomas M. Goyer, 73, of Whiteview Road died Monday, November 23, 2015, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.

Born in Troy, he was son of the late Henry E. Goyer and Catherine Pokeda Goyer and husband for 50 years of Judith Edwards Goyer. He had resided in Wynantskill his whole life and on Whiteview Road since his marriage in 1965 and was a 1959 graduate of the Troy High School. 

Tom was a Credit Manager for H.L. Gage Sales, Inc. in Albany from 1981-2006.  Prior to that he worked in small equipment sales at International Harvester in Menands until it's closing.   

He was a Wynantskill Fire Department volunteer for 45 years, held officer positions as a line officer as Captain and Lieutenant and Captain in the Fire Police, was a member of the American Legion Post 1489 in Wynantskill for 39 years and a communicant of St. John's Episcopal Church in Troy for 27 years serving as an Usher and Counter.  He was a Navy veteran of the Vietnam War stationed on the supply ship USS Antares AKS33.  He enjoyed camping, reading by the fire, swimming with his grandchildren at Great Sacandaga Lake and visiting his granddaughters in South Carolina.  He enjoyed his vacations at Virginia Beach with his wife, Judi.  

Survivors in addition to his wife include two daughters, Wendy (Anthony) Goyer-DiGioacchino, Ballston Spa and Denise (James) DeMarco, Indian Land, SC; two sisters-in-law, Agnes Walker, Latham and Nancy E. Casteras, Colonia, NJ; his grandchildren, Isabella, Sophia, Luka DiGioacchino, Ballston Spa and Marisa DeMarco and Carly DeMarco of Indian Land, SC; a niece, Catherine McCraw, Hawley, TX; four nephews,  Michael H. Goyer, West Sand Lake, Joseph, S. Scott and Timothy Goyer, East Greenbush; grand nephews, Michael Goyer, West Sand Lake, Christopher Goyer, Troy, Shawn Goyer, West Sand Lake, E.J. Dennis, Fredericksburg, TX and Nicholas Goyer, East Greenbush and a grand niece Taylor Goyer of East Greenbush. He was predeceased by a sister, Rosemary Capano and a brother, Henry S. Goyer.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc.  276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday, November 27, 2015 from 3-6 PM. 

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 1PM at St. John's Episcopal Church Troy  Church 146 First Street Troy  with  Rev. Stephen Schlossberg, Rector, officiating.

Interment will be in  Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.
