I knew Terry mostly from her work on the radio, having spent very little time with her.
But I always felt close to her from her thoughtful, gentle manner and her fine job on the "Mostly Folk" program on WRPI. I produced and contributed to several programs
on the radio station over the years, most recently as a fill-in for the "Mostly Folk" schedule and Terry's contribution to this institution of the area's airwaves will be sorely missed. My thoughts go out to her family and friends at your loss.

Teek was my first friend when I moved to the Capital Region from New York City, and her friendship was gentle, fun, and profound. We talked about many things big and little over the years, went on hikes, and ate meals together (also with my husband, Roddy). I was lucky to have known her. I will never forget dancing with her at our wedding. For several years we would get together to have tea and write our holiday cards, and I will always remember her saying that it didn't matter so much what I wrote or how long my note was, but what was important was letting family and friends know they were loved and thought of. She quietly encouraged me in many ways, and, largely through her encouragement, I became a vegetarian. She had the gift of patience, and she also was able to translate many ideals into concrete actions. While I miss her terribly, I will always admire her many strengths and remember her beauty--inner and outer--and the way she had of promoting love and peace through a wide network. Love always to her and her family.

To Terry's family:

I will be forever grateful for all the times and so many conversations I had with Terry, though right now, the pain of her absence is hard to bear.

I'm sure you all know that she treasured each member of her family- she started off our friendship by showing me photos and emailing me a list of each of her family members and explained I needed to memorize it so I'd always know who she was talking about. As each new nephew and niece arrived she was so excited. ..

I will miss her forever but am grateful I got to be her friend.

My thoughts are with you all.

I loved listening to Terry's shows on Mostly Folk. She had great taste in music and I could count on hearing some of my favorite women artists in particular, and lots of environmental songs. I only knew her superficially, seeing her at concerts once in a while, but she had a beautiful presence and she will be missed. My condolences to her family and close friends.

To the family of Terry Hayden, I am very, very sorry for you loss. Terry was such a pleasure to work with at RPI. Whenever anyone had a question or concern, Terry either knew the answer or would set about finding the answer. She touched so many lives in her position and made many lives better through her efforts. She was always pleasant, with a willing smile. She will be greatly missed.

It is a great loss for RPI CS and its graduate students. She helped all the graduate students in their study, advised them how to succeed, introduced international graduate students to American culture. I recalled, on several occasions she arranged bowling night for us, the graduate students, so that we can have a little fun in our boring life.

She was soft-spoken, respectful, and always welcoming. She listened carefully, responded in a friendly tone. If a graduate student is in trouble, in academic or in personal life, (s)he would go to Terry first.

May God reward her for all her good deeds.
