Stephen Palka Jr.

Wynantskill  Stephen Palka Jr., 88, of Willow Lane, died Sunday at Samaritan Hospital Troy, after a brief illness. 

Born in Cohoes, he was son of the late Stephen  and Mary Wyskan Palka and husband for 60  years of Anna Syczyk  Palka. He had resided in Wynantskill for 53 years and was a graduate of Cohoes High School.

Mr. Palka was a machinist for the Ford Motor Company in Green Island for 45 years retiring 27 years ago. 

He was a member of the United Auto Workers of America and a communicant of St. Jude the Apostle Church in Wynantskill. 
     
Survivors in addition to his wife include a daughter, Lynda A. DeCelle and husband Albert of North Greenbush; two sons, Wayne M. Palka and wife Marlies of Wynantskill and Stephen Palka of Wynantskill; a brother, Sam Palka of CA; a sister, Mary Palka of FL; six grandchildren Brian Palka, Domino Smotreys and husband Michael, Shawn DeCelle and wife Alisha, Shannon DeCelle, Michael Palka and Kelly Palka; a great-granddaughter Desirae Anna Smotreys and several nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by four brothers Michael, William, John and Pete Palka.

Funeral service will be held Wednesday at 9:00am from the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. corner of Pawling at Maple Avenues Troy and at 9:30am from St. Jude the Apostle Church where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 4-8pm. 

Interment St. Mary's Cemetery in Troy.
