Shirley A. (Robinson) McLaughlin

August 24, 1935 ~ December 12, 2015 (age 80) 80 Years Old

North Greenbush - Shirley Ann Robinson McLaughlin, formerly of Crowne Point,  passed away on Saturday, December 12, 2015.

Shirley was born on August 24, 1935 in Cambridge, New York to the late Charles K. and Mary Milos Robinson.  Shirley was the loving wife of the late Donald J. McLaughlin.  She and Don were married for 50 years and enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, as well as many countries in Europe and the Caribbean Islands with their long time best friends and traveling partners, Beve and Earl Nagle.  After retirement, Shirley and Don moved to Hilton Head Island, SC, where they lived for nine years before moving “back home.” 

Shirley graduated from Troy High School, class of 1953.  She began her career with The NYS Worker’s Compensation Board and shortly after transferred to the State Comptroller’s Office, now known as the Office of the State Comptroller.  She took a few computer courses at HVCC and was quickly promoted in that field.  She retired after over 40 years of dedicated service as a Computer Systems Analyst, writing the State Payroll Computer Program.

Shirley is survived by her brother, Edward C. Robinson (Patricia) of Alexandria, VA, her sister, Marilyn Wiegert (Terry) of Cohoes, her sister Barbara Campbell of North Greenbush.  Also,  brother-in-law, Thomas McLaughlin (late Wanda), as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and cousins.  She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, William Campbell and her sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mae and Tom Stevens.

Shirley was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church in North Greenbush where she was a member of the Women’s Guild.

Her family would like to thank the Eddy Alzheimer’s Center at Hawthorne Ridge and Van Rensselaer Manor B-3 staff  for the exemplary, compassionate  and devoted care provided to Shirley.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc., 276 Pawling Avenue, Troy, on Tuesday, December 15, 2015 from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home and at 10:00 AM at St. Michael’s Church, Troy, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated.

Interment will be held at Gerald BH Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville Wednesday at 12:30 PM.

Due to floral restrictions at the Cemetery, the family asks that in lieu of flowers, if desired, contributions be made to the Make A Wish Foundation of  Northeast New York, 3 Washington Square, Albany, NY  12205.
