Sandra Jean Peabody Agar, 67

Snyders Lake - Sandra Jean Peabody Agar, 67, was welcomed into the arms of the Lord, Thursday, November 25, 2010.

Born in Troy, February 25, 1943, she was daughter of the late Eldon Snyder and Alice A. Peabody. Sandra resided most of her life in the Snyders Lake area, attending Averill Park Schools. She was employed by Montgomery Ward before marring Thomas J. Agar and becoming a full time wife, for 47 years, mother and partner in Agar's Garage in Snyders Lake. She later worked as a credit manager for Ackner Fuels before once again taking up her role as mother and grandmother to not only her children and grandchildren but most of the neighborhood kids. Her love in addition to her family and extended family was shopping and cooking. Her Christmas trays will be missed by all that knew her. She was the adopted cook and shopper for the Adirondack Woodsmen Sportsmen Club. Sandy also enjoyed helping the Rensselaer County Conservation Alliance with fishing derby's, bouquets and the Schaghticoke Fair.

Survivors in addition to her husband, Tom, include her children, Sandra 'Missy' (Dorsey) Garrow, Laura (Marc) Cesta, Steven (Lori) Agar and Peggy (John) Morgans; 14 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Amongst her long list of great friends were Tom's brothers and sisters and their spouses plus her brother Raymond's wife, Betty. She was predeceased by her brothers, Harold Peabody and John and Raymond Ryan.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11 AM at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150, West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush , Pastor of Salem United Methodist Church, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.

The family wishes to extend a very special 'thank you' to all the doctors and nurses in the Samaritan Hospital ER and 2nd and 6th floors. You all went way above and beyond your oath of nursing.
