S. Constance McClemonds Dean, 88

Watervliet- S. Constance McClemonds Dean, 88, of Watervliet, died Monday, May 15, 2006, at the Van Rensselaer Manor in North Greenbush, after a long illness.

Born in Mamaroneck, NY, Connie was the daughter of the late John McClemonds and Esther (Cully) McClemonds and wife of the late G. Harry Dean.

At the age of 3, Connie came to Troy where she resided on the Brunswick Road. She attended Troy High School. For more than 30 years she resided on Highland Avenue where she raised her family as a homemaker. She had resided in Watervliet since 1979.

She was an active lifelong member and the longest living member of Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church in Troy, a member of the church choir and attended the Christian Disciples Church of Eagle Mills. She was active in the Watervliet Senior Center, a member of the Cannonaires choral group of the center and a Friend of the center. In her youth, Connie rode and trained show horses. As a library volunteer of the Watervliet Public Library, she read to children.

Connie is survived by her loving children; two daughters, Joan Warren (Charles) of Troy and Esther Dean of Broadalbin; two sons, John H. Dean (Jan) of Columbia, MO and Russell S. Dean (Ann) of Clayton, NC; 11 grandchildren, Dawn and Douglas Warren, Connie LeBlanc, Terry Brown, Ethan VanWert, Joy Dean, Jill Rockett, Brant, Bryan, Brett and Brad Dean; 14 great grandchildren; the fifth generation, a great great granddaughter; several nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews and cousins in Ireland, England and Australia and a cousin, Sheila Bakerian of Averill Park. She was predeceased by two sisters, Margaret Shanks and Muriel Shaw.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 11 am at the Bryce Funeral Home Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Douglas Thomson and Rev. Michael White, co-officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home Wednesday from 4-7pm.

Interment Elmwood Hill Cemetery in Troy.
