Ruth Timber Peckham, 87

North Greenbush - Ruth Timber Peckham, 87, of Blooming Grove Drive died Wednesday, May 23, 2012, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late George J. Timber Sr. and Kathryn Hart Timber and a step mother, Anna E. Timber and the wife of the late Daniel J. Peckham. She lived as a child in Snyders Lake and was a graduate of Averill Park High School. Later, she resided in Wynantskill where she lived with her husband, Daniel, for over 50 years.

Mrs. Peckham was a clerk at the Delaware and Hudson Railroad in Albany for 41 years retiring in 1985.

She was an active, 50 year member of Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church in Troy, a secretary and member of the Marie Antionette Whitman Society and the Women's Service Guild of the church. She was a member of the Railroad Pensioners. She was a loving owner of several Shetland Sheep dogs over the years.

Survivors include 2 sisters, Ann M. Scheilding and Kathleen E. Timber, Troy; 2 step brothers, Kenneth and Raymond Scheilding ; her devoted nieces, Judi (Thomas) Goyer, Wynantskill and Nancy (John) Casteras, Colonia, NJ; and several other nieces and cousins. She was predeceased by her brother George J. Timber Jr.; a step brother Warren Scheilding; and a nephew, Steven Scheilding.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Friday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 10 AM at the funeral home with Rev. Douglas Thomson, officiating.

Interment will be in Eagle Mills Cemetery Eagle Mills.

The family would like to thank the nurses and aides of B-2 at Van Rensselaer Manor for their years of loving care and kindness to Ruth.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Ruth Peckham to the Mt. Ida Community Baptist Church 560 Congress Street Troy, NY 12180.
