Ruth Walker Morlock, 91

West Sand Lake - Ruth Walker Morlock, 91, of Shaver Road died Monday, June 28, 2010, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a brief illness.

Born in Valley Falls, she was daughter of the late Frederick I. Walker and Albertine G. Cook Walker and beloved wife for 71 years of the late Frank P. Morlock. She was a member of Rensselaer High School's class of 1937. After marriage she lived in Watervliet for 6 years and East Poestenkill for 10 years where she helped form and was a leader of Poestenkill Brownie Troop #50 until she moved to West Sand Lake in 1954.

Mrs. Morlock was a bus driver for Rensselaer County Board of Cooperative Educational Services for 25 years, since its inception and until retiring in 1979.

She, along with her family, became members of the Salem United Methodist Church in 1955, where in the past years she served as a trustee, a Sunday school teacher and chairman of the Parsonage and Alter Committee. She was a member of the Sand Lake Seniors and Southern Tier Seniors.

She loved working in her gardens. In later years, she enjoyed watching from her window or patio the many kinds of birds, wild turkeys, deer (even though they feasted on the shrubbery and flowers around the house), the occasional fox and coyote. She hoped one day to see a bear or even a moose.

She was a devoted mother to Judith Morlock of Averill Park, Joanne (Lawrence) Herzog of Averill Park, and Jill (Arthur) Spierre of Chestertown Loon Lake, son-in-law Richard Guilbault of Waterford and daughter #5 Donna Reed of Averill Park. Also survived by a brother, Wendell (Rebecca )Walker of Johnsonville; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Walker of Rensselaer and Lorraine Walker of Lacrosse, W; her grandchildren, Richard (Kris) Guilbault, Matthew Guilbault, Jon A. (Tracey) Guilbault, Jennifer Guilbault,,John (Louise) Spierre, Jeffrey Spierre, Kimberly (Derek) Ross and Susan Spierre; her great-grandchildren Alexander Eachenbaum, Brittney, Marissa, Jessie, Benjamin, and Christopher Guilbault, Jeanine, Joshua, and James Spierre.; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her daughter Jeanne Guilbault, her brothers, Earl, Roy, Carlton and Harold Walker and a sister, Pauline Morgan.

Funeral service will be held Friday 2:00 PM at the Salem United Methodist Church Shaver Road West Sand Lake with Rev. Dr. Patricia A. Bush , Pastor, officiating.

Relatives and friends may call at the DeGraaf-Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 4392 Route 150 West Sand Lake on Thursday, July 01, 2010 from 4-7 PM.

Interment will be in Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
