Brunswick - Ruth T. Baker Lewis, 89, formerly of Newtonville died Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a brief illness.
Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Joseph A. Baker and Teresa Haite Baker. She was born and raised in Troy and later built a home in Newtonville where she spent the remainder of her life. She was a graduate of Catholic Central High School and Albany Business College.
Ruth was Secretary to the Deputy Commissioner of NYS ENCON and formerly principal stenographer for the Chief Actuary of the NYS Insurance Department.
She was a member of the CSEA.
Survivors include a brother, Joseph (Arleen) Baker; a sister-in-law, Marion (John) Baker; a dear friend, Cecelia Lubera and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, William (Lucille) Baker and John (Marion) Baker; a sister, Margaret Hills and a nephew, Cpl. Paul Baker.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a memorial service which will be held Wednesday at 11 AM at St. Agnes Chapel of St. Agnes Cemetery Menands.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the Van Rensselaer staff of Unit B2 and the Community Hospice of Rensselaer County.
