Ruth Barnum Campbell

Ruth B. Campbell, 87

North Greenbush - Ruth B. Campbell, 87, of Blooming Grove Drive and formerly of Douglas Avenue in Defreestville died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, at Van Rensselaer Manor after a long illness.

Born in Cohoes, she was daughter of the late Harold K. Barnum and Grace Lang Barnum and wife of the late Joseph E. Campbell. She was raised in Cohoes, resided in Defreestville for 60 years and attended Russell Sage College.

Mrs. Campbell was a homemaker.

She was a girl scout leader, and a member of the Cordial Greens Country Club, Urania Club in Albany, the Taconic Lake Association and Blooming Grove Reformed Church in Defreestville where she taught Sunday school and was in the choir. As a child she was active in St. James Church in Cohoes. Ruth was an avid bridge player.

Survivors include two sons, David Robert Campbell, Watervliet and William J. (Andrea) Campbell, Delhi; two daughters, Sarah (Sally) Becker, Greenwich and Nancy (Edward) Petteys, Defreestville; her grandchildren, Johanna (Carlos Sesia) Campbell, Andrew and Ashley Campbell, Benjamin and Julie Campbell and Kate Becker; three great grandchildren, Cruz, Holland and Charlotte Campbell; a cousin, Norman Madsen and her longtime friends, Dr. Kerry Harbeck and Jane and Fred Muhlfelder. She was predeceased by her sister, Jean B. Hughes.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy with Rev. Stephen Cordes, officiating.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.
