Ruth A. McLaughlin Casey, 93

Poestenkill - Ruth A. McLaughlin Casey, 93, of Deer Creek Road died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Hugh McLaughlin and Anna Coughlin McLaughlin and wife of the late William V. Casey. She had resided in Troy most of her life and in Poestenkill since 2000 and was a graduate of Troy High School and Troy Business College.

Mrs. Casey was a student service representative in the Registrar's Office of Russell Sage College for 15 years, retiring in the early 80's.

She was a member of St. Joseph's PTA, Ilium Literary Club, Sycaway Seniors and a former communicant of Sacred Heart Church. She was an avid reader and loved spending time with her family.

Survivors include two sons, William G. (Lynn) Casey, Latham and Timothy E. (Marybeth) Casey, Poestenkill; a daughter, Christine (David) Helwig, Poestenkill; 7 grandchildren, Jill (Tom) Carroll, Jessie (Bryan) Weatherwax, Kate, Sarah, and Caroline Casey, Colin Helwig and Nicole Melius; 4 great grandchildren, Satchel and Roscoe Carroll and Abe and Addie Weatherwax and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Eugene McLaughlin.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Wednesday from 4-7 PM.

Funeral service will be held Thursday at 9 AM at the funeral home and at 9:30 AM at St. Henry's Church Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. John Provost , Pastor.

Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery Troy.
