Rose Reckner Hansen Hoover, 88

Poestenkill - Rose Reckner Hansen Hoover, 88, of Snyders Corners Road died Thursday, November 19, 2009, at her residence after a long illness.

Born in Poestenkill, she was daughter of the late Albert G. Reckner and Rose N. Wager Reckner and wife of the late Russell Hansen and Walter Hoover. She had resided in Poestenkill all of her life and was a 1937 graduate of Averill Park High School.

Mrs. Hoover was employed by Watervliet Arsenal driving a forklift during WW II, Stanley's Department Store in Troy, the Averill Park School District, and retired from NYS Department of Taxation and Finance in 1998. She was best known for being co-owner of the Maplepoint Tavern in Poestenkill with her husband Russ.

Survivors include a son, Ralph (Barbara) Hansen of Averill Park; two daughters, Carol (Earl) Krogh of Poestenkill and Grace (David) Owens of Poestenkill; her grandchildren, Kevin (Sue) Hansen of Jacksonville, FL, Rusty (Kara) Hansen of Averill Park, Greg (Kim) Hansen of Poestenkill, JoEllen (Mark) Pavia of Erie, PA, David (Sarah) Hansen of Averill Park, Dayna Hansen of Averill Park, Robert (Kelly) Owens of Poestenkill, Wilbur Salvi of New Lebanon, Barbara (Norman) Goodell of Tamarac, Katey Hansen of Potsdam, Danny Hansen of Phoenix, AZ and Kayra Hansen of Phoenix, AZ; 12 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Albert J. Hansen and a brother, Kenneth Reckner.

Funeral service will be held Saturday at 2 PM at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy.

Relatives and friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 12 noon - 2 PM, prior to the service.

Interment will be in Elmwood Hill Cemetery Troy.

Special thanks to friends and nurses Denise, Nancy, Deb, Helen 1, Helen 2, Linda, Sue, Kelly, Cheryl, and Jessie. We could not have been able to have mom at home without you. Also a special thanks to The Community Hospice of Rensselaer County for your help and support.
