Rose C. Alexander, 85

Troy - Rose C. Alexander, 85, of 21st Street Troy died Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Samaritan Hospital after a long illness.

Born in Troy, she was daughter of the late Jacob and Victoria Alexander. She had resided in the Troy area most of her life and attended Russell Sage College and The College of St. Rose.

Rose was employed for the NYS Department of Social Services for 50 years, retiring in 1996.

She was a member of the Ladies Guild of Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church and a volunteer for over 50 years at numerous places including St. Mary's and Samaritan Hospital Auxiliaries, a Vice President of the Women's Auxiliary at Samaritan Hospital, worked at the Corner Shop and received the Volunteer of the Year Award. Rose enjoyed her fund raising activities and writing personal letters for fund raising purposes..

Survivors include many special friends including Richard DiMezza and family, Sossy , Doris and Ruth and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Benjamin and Harry Alexander and two sisters, Marion Alexander and Alice Kassabian.

Relatives and friends may call at the Bryce Funeral Home, Inc. 276 Pawling Avenue Troy on Sunday from 3-6PM.

Funeral service will be held Monday at 11AM at the funeral home with Rev. Richard Otty, Interim Pastor of First United Presbyterian Church in Troy and Rev. Bedros Shetilian, Pastor, Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church.

Interment will be in Oakwood Cemetery Troy.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in memory of Rose C. Alexander to the Samaritan Hospital Auxiliary 2224 Burdett Avenue Troy, NY 12180 or Holy Cross Armenian Apostolic Church 255 Spring Avenue Troy, NY 12180.
